Wednesday wisdom

I asked the Lord to tell me
Why my house is such a mess.
He asked if I'd been 'computering',
And I had to answer 'yes.'
He told me to get off my fanny
And tidy up the house.
And so I started cleaning up...
The smudges off my mouse.
I wiped and shined the topside.
That really did the trick...
I was just admiring my work..
I didn't mean to 'click.'
But click, I did, and oops
I found a real absorbing site
That I got SO way into.
I was into it all night.
Sigh.. Nothing's changed except my mouse
It's very, very shiny.
I guess my house will stay a mess...
While I sit here on my hiney

Creative Jeans Night

After a busy day at school, there is nothing better to relax me than to go into the craft (crap) room and create.
I can't take credit for these. I saw them on ebay and I would not spen $100. for them. So I made some. I got a package of cuuuuuute fabric in the mail just yesterday. I couldn't wait to use them. These are wonder undered onto some old jeans that I cut off for capri's. Anyway, I cut and ironed and cut and ironed and this is what I made. I really like them and I am always wearing the most funky things!
I also made an huge pasta salad.
Artichokes, pasta, cheese, cucumbers, celery, dressing, green peppers, red peppers... everything but onions (they don't settle to well in my tummy) . I forget how much pasta can bloom into a huge amount!!! Guess thats what I will have for lunch this week and the weekend too. But its still too HOT here in Okla. to cook.
I am so ready for FALL. Im ready to decorate for fall and make chili, cider and some brownies! yummy!
School was crazy. My kids range from 5.7 to 0.9 in reading. So, its like teaching in a 1 room school . Teaching reading from 5th grade to pre 1st. I was stressing all afternoon. My Aide and I worked out a plan that should work. Hope and pray, otherwise I will go bananas! I teach reading using literature, so I can adjust a bit. But today when I used two reading groups I ran out of time to get all my stuff done. Yikes, how do you do that. The kids were good with working while I was reading with the individual groups, but its very time consuming. help, help!!!!!
I'm off to bed, wish I had some Blue Bell chocolate covered cherry ice cream with hot fudge. YUMMY, YUMMY. My sister had this at SMACKS and I would nibble a bit in the ice cream buckets, then hold the spoon under the hot fudge. oh my goodness........ Of course, I changed the spoon everytime, what are you thinking!!! hahaha
Off to bed,
Tootle loo,

These are the back of the jeans. I didnt know they were down here until i was finished. oops.

Critters

I detest critters.

Being the wonderful wife tonight... hubby was snoozing on the couch and I didn't want to wake him. So, I went outside to turn off the sprinkler and JEEZE, the biggest spider I have seen in a long time!!!!!!! My goodness it must have spun that web in record time. I was out moving the water not 30 minutes before and never saw this guy.

I am the biggest whiney about bugs. When the boys were little, I would yell "bug alert" or "cricket alert" and they would all come running to destory the little bugger. Most of the time they would just take them outside. So we were not the "kill the bug" family. I must admit the web is a beautiful work of nature, but take it somewhere else!
Monday... busy at school. The little guys would not stay on task. I have forgotten how slow they are to get their work finished. We didn't get to some of the stuff we needed to do, guess tomorrow will be super busy. Its been so hot in the afternoon they dont get out too much. We did a bit of fun this afternoon. We listened to "tunes" and did a bit of Tony-Chestnut and Too-de-tah. That is probably not spelled right, but you all know the song. My Aide was cracking up laughing at all of us. My class is responsible for this week of Rise and Shine. Its 15 minutes before school starts in the cafeteria. You know the stuff, pledge, creed, announcement, menu, word of the week, that kind of stuff. I told the kid we would do too-de-tah on Friday. So I will have someone take a pic and post that.
Off to bed, I must get my beauty rest. hahaha! Actually Im really tired and about to fall asleep in the chair.

glittery crowns

Last night I was shopping around on ebay looking for cooking books for me to use in the classroom. Somehow, I ran across this cute little necklace for moi! I got that little thing for .98. Can't go wrong there!!!
Then I also found this cuttie little bracelet. I got it for .98 too.
I had lots of fun last night in my jammies. I also did find a book to use in the classroom for $2.00. Its literature based cooking in the classroom. I teach from literature instead of the basal reader. We generally cook something on Friday to go along with the weeks lesson.
Next week, we will read Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse. We will make "purple cow". Its grape pop and vanilla ice cream float.
Our weekend was great. I have already had a 2 hour nap at 4:30!!! Lazy me. Yesterday I got a much needed pedi and then went to Cato in Owasso. They have the cutest little skirts. I found 3 skirts, 1 shirt, 1 pair of shoes and a sweater for less than $100. What a buy!
Back to work tomorrow and lots to do.
Have a blessed week !

Thursday ponderings

I needed a pic and was too tired to go get my camera, so I dug around in the archives and found this pic of the Aspen trees in Wyoming. Hubby and I were flying in a hot air balloon. Love those trees. They make me smile!

Its still really hot here in Cville today. The kids only went outside a bit today. But having 18 kids instead of the usual 24 is such a difference! I can do so much more.
I generally cook something in the classroom, but tomorrow we are doing something easy. I had to run to Target and Hobby Lobby after school, so I grabbed some graham crackers and frosting. We will spread frosting and pour sprinkles on it. yummy! They will love it. Then we can sequence the activity.
The little girl that just sits, actually worked today. I spoke with her mom this morning and her parents took away cheerleading and all fun until she got her work done. Then I sent her to see the "principal" and to see the room where she would sit if her work was not finished. Worked wonders. Another great thing... My kids and I eat last in the building. They ran out of pizza and the kids had to wait a few minutes for it to come out of the oven. Well, all of my ramblings this week worked, because the cooks came to tell me how they waited so nicely!!!! So we had a celebration. The cook brought them roll-ups. Goes to show them that you never know who is watching you.
We are hoping for a calm weekend. After last weekend's "bridezilla." Another rehearsal tomorrow night and wedding on Sat. Hubby has to go to OKC for a mtg. on Sat then he will be home Sat night. We need to teach a Sunday School Class, then my mom and her husband will be here Sunday afternoon. I should really clean the house, but I'm sure I won't !!!!{ read this part mom, I thought about it....}
I need to do some sewing this weekend too. Some of the teachers want a chair cover for thier student of the day, so I have 3 of those to make, then the teacher and teachers aides in the special needs room need aprons. So I am making those too. They are just the little one that tie at the waist. Ill take pics later.
Off to bed, Fun Friday will be here before you know it.
tootle loo!

Wednesday Stuff

Well, I'm back... probably nobody noticed, so if you did, let me know. School is going fine, I will take a pic as soon as I get all my photo/publish forms back from parents!

I would love, love, love to have this hanging in my classroom. It pretty much sums up the class rule.

I have the sweetest little special needs girl. She is legally blind, and has difficulty walking. She uses a walker and also a thing around her waist for stability, but does everything I ask of her. She has a full time assistant that is marvelous and she is learning braille! Wow, it really looks difficult. The most amazing thing is, she completes or at least tries everything! Then, I have a girl that is across from her that just sits and stares into space! I get so aggrivated. She is capable of working, but won't. Starting tomorrow she will miss all of her specials...art, PE, computers etc until she learns to get her "job" finished. I guess its time to turn on my "miserable" button for this one.

Ok ,enough from my soap box. I have another wedding this weekend, but the bride is really nice and easy to work with. Then it slows down and we only have a few this fall! Whew, its really busy.

Yesterday was my sister's birthday. She is 53. Pretty good for being THAT old. hahaha. This is a pic of her and my niece, Kristyn at Ryan and Katy's wedding 3 years ago.
So...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
I really don't have any exciting news this week.
better get...

Bridezilla

Yes, thats all I am going to say about the wedding tonight. BRIDEZILLA! She wrote the book and the "wedding planner" that she hired was, lets see... Plannerzilla. Every rule except alcohol we have a Church regarding weddings, they broke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, thats all about that.
What a busy day. We went to OKC to a meeting, and back to Tulsa by 4:00 for the Wedding from He**, oh yea, I wasnt going to say anymore, oops!

I went to see my grandma in OKC today while we were there. Bless her heart, she is just lying in her little bed and waiting to go see Jesus. She is so tired and ready to go. A couple of months ago when she was a bit more lucid she wanted to jump out her window at her retirement center. Oops, shes on the 1st floor. We told her she would probably just break a hip! She is a funny little lady. She has been sleeping in the daytime and them gets up and runs around at night. But lately she just lays there. I think this was the worst I have ever seen her. She didnt know me at first, but then she did after a few minutes. She generally cries a bit when I leave, but today she just kept mumbling and saying she was so tired. Please pray for her.

I am off to bed.

Mtgs.,organize, think, shop, bake, decorate...

Yep, that was today. Meetings this morning. Lunch at school-thanks goodness for delivery!
I am always thinking of things at the very last minute and buzzing around like a chicken with its head cut off. I made my bulletin board last night. Its a cookie sheet made from aluminum foil, then I cut out choc. chip cookies from paper, etc. it says " We are a great batch of kids".
So, then I decided they needed cookies on thier desk. I left school at 5:15, went to Hobby Lobby to get stuff for their desk treat bags. Then, to Wally World to get groceries. Thanks goodness they had 1 batch of 24 cookies already made!!!! I grabbed those and bought some can frosting and got home at 7:00. Computer stuff to do, cookies to decorate, bags to make... Its 10:15. Time for bed!
Tomorrow is crunch time. Mtg 8-11, work in room until 3:30, change clothes for back to school night from 4-6! Good Golly, I am getting to old to do all of this. I do hope all these kids and parents appreciate the extra time we put in to make their childs first day awesome.
I was as Target the other day and a few parents were complaining that they had to buy so many school supplies. "Do these teachers realize how much stuff cost for our kids to go back to school", Well yes, we do, but do those parents realize how much we spend from our own money to prepare for their child to have the best possible experience???? No!!!!!! So... say an extra prayer for all the teachers this week and the month of August as we start to teach again.
Ok, Im finished preaching for the night, a I need a big fat bubble bath and my feather pillow and bed!!!

I'm thinkin my sweet daughter in law will need one of the beautiful monograms for her car? Maybe, lets see is she read this and tell me yes or no.
I have to go to bed, Im sooooooooooooooo tired and I have to get up in the am to go to WORK! Yes, hubby will begin bringing me coffee in bed tomorrow. He's just the sweetest man. xoxoxox

Crafty Saturday

Today I finished some craft activities. Last year a sweet girl gave me the cutest clipboard. Her Mom made it for me. So I of course, made a couple for gifts last year. They are so easy and quick to make. These are great teacher gifts. So easy, fast and cheap!!!
Items needed:
1 wood clipboard- with the flat clip....less than $1. at Wally World
various papers - I use different scrapbook paper and have used tissue paper. Sometime I use 1/2 a sheet or tear them and stick them on.
sponge paint brush
Mod-podge matte finish
various ribbons and stuff
I put a good coat of mod-podge on the board, tear the paper then stick'em on. Cover with a layer of mod-podge. Let that dry a few minutes, over night or during nap time. Add words, phrases, pictures, whatever or just leave it (cut the stuff out of magazines or use scrapbook supplies) . Then tie on various ribbons. I usually attach some stuff to the ribbons (beads, clips, rings, trinkets)
Make the paper on the sides wide enough to wrap around to the back. Stick it down with mod-podge and put contrast or same paper on the back.
The one on the left is for my principal. She saw mine at school and wanted one. The other is for a friend.
That about it for Crafty Saturday...

Classroom complete...probably

The entrance to my room. I though the curtains looked a bit like a circus, but they are growing on me. The picture is a bit dark, but you get the general idea.

This is the front of the room. I still have stuff to put away and get organized, but generally its coming along. I painted my desk with chalkboard paint. The kids write sentences, spelling words, or practice with magnetic letters.
I also use my laptop for grades. Last year was the first year we only used the computer for grades. It works great. Sure is better than a grade book.

This is a view from the door side of the room. The cubbies for take home papers, and general stuff. The girl used to set outside the door with her little sign that says "Mrs. Sheehan's Room", but its about to fall apart. I need for her to be tighten up a bit. Maybe a little surgery. She is starting to fall apart. The banner above the window says "second grade". The rest of the stuff is just games and centers.
This is a picture of the back of the room. the sink is in the dark blue. The table by the sink is an old spool from our local REC. I covered the top with fabric and put heavy plastic on top. Then look out I have an electric stapel gun. Bam, bam it set. The banner that is hanging says: "Sheehan's Smarties", that is our class moto and my webpage name for parents to reference daily. Its helpful for homework and announcements.
I guess I didnt take a pic of the white board side of the room, oh well!
That's the tour for now. I am not going back up until Monday. We have mtgs all day on Mon., Tues., and 1/2 day Wed. Back -to-School Night is Wed night 4-7, so if its not finished now , it won't get done.
Im way tired, so off to the couch to lay like a toad.

Clean, clean,clean

I guess those new meds are workin out all right. LH said I didn't thrash around in my sleep all night and my muscles were not jerking around like a wild woman! hurrah.
I did sleep well. I was awake at 7:30 drinking my coffee and making my assessment of the house that needed to be cleaned. So, like a hummingbird on crack, I vac'd, steam cleaned ALL the house, mopped, wiped and shined everything around. Good golly, by the time I slowed down the house was shinning like a diamond ring. It smelling clean and fresh! What a day.

This evening,I met with a bride-to-be then took LH out for mexican dinner. Yep, I even ate those chips and ordered sopapillas-(sp).

Tomorrow is a fru fru day. Off to a massage then a mani and pedi.

tootle loo

PS- instead of using the soap stuff that in the steam cleaner, I mixed bleach/water--1:10. It cleans the carpet and doesn't leave that soapy goo. No, it didnt take any color out. But always try it on a test area. Under the bed.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY RYAN AND KATY

Happy Anniversary to Ryan and Katy. Today is their 3rd Anniversary!
Aren't they just the cutest couple you have ever seen. You have to just love my grand dogs too! They are such a cute family. I miss them everyday . Enjoy your anniversary!!!!!!!
XOXOXO- Mom

I actually went to work in my classroom this afternoon. I accomplished quite a bit. But, I need to put in a couple more afternoons. I cleaned and arranged things. I need to finish that kind of stuff tomorrow morning, then get started on curriculum. Ill be ready by this time next week because, ready or not here they come.

I went to the Dr. this morning. My Doc changed all my meds and took blood. ouch! If you know me, thats a major activity. If I see a needle, bam, I am on the floor! So, with my eyes covered it was Ok. I didn't really even feel the needle. We will see what the results are, but I'm sure everything is spiffy. I need to slow down and get more rest. hahaha, right!
Better get to bed, I took a new muscle relaxer tonight, per Doctor RX and I do beleive that things is making me drowsy. Fibromyalgia is a strange little thing. You can go for months and be great then BAM, its back. Well, it will get better. I am going (I hope ) to get up at 6:30 every morning and get on the treadmill/eliptical. hmmmmmmmmmm, that might not last.

PGA Madness

Oh, my gosh! It was SOOOOO hot at the PGA.
We got there today at 11:00. We arrived at our shuttle location and rode the nice luxury bus with a/c. They let us off and we went to check in. We got our tickets and went to find out "spot" by the 12th green. So far so good. When we arrived at our designated spot, that I thought would be a concession for drinks... it was a huge tent, not any a/c. Still we were OK. We met Karla, "our friend who we did the volunteering for". Where was our apron and hat, they asked?? What apron and hat! Yes, we were to get one at the check in. Oops, they didn't tell us. We had to walk all the way back to the shuttle bus area and get an apron and hat. So, finally we got back to the 12th green area and we had about 10 minutes before our shift started at 1:00. Lunch was provided with our volunteering. Did I want a hot dog or a hot dog? Well, I don't eat hot dogs, so I got to have a hamburger. I ate 1/2 of the burger and gave the rest to LH, because I was already too hot to eat my lunch. I donned my apron, (not the hat) and went into the tent, not warm tent, hot as he** tent. LH and I were on the cash register, not much thinking, just punch the button that says hamburger, beer, pop, chips, etc. Oh, but by the way, we are out of all sandwiches except the hamburger and hot dog! I'm on my tip toes to see the register, so I give that position to my fellow volunteer friends! In the meantime, I am beginning to become very hot, I mean very hot. So, I went to sit outside a few minutes. My head hurts, stomach hurts and every inch of my body is extremely hot. Can you hear the word heat stroke coming on? Well, I being the "rebel" took off the hot full body apron and never put it back on. That was a bit better. I also found a good spot by LH where I could put my hand in the ice water buckets to retrieve beer, water, and other liquid items. Around 5:15 ish, LH realizes that we are to stay until 6:30! Our dear friend Karla sent us home at 5:15! Got to love her, she there all week. Did I see a golfer, beats me! I did see the 12 hole, port a potty, and that's about all. We got on the bus with that lovely a/c and went to the car. LH and I had plans to go eat supper, but the heat had been more than I could handle!!!! I got home, took a bath, drank some OJ, ate a banana and woke up when Lance called at 8:45 to see how the PGA was.
Lance wondered if we saw any golfers? Beats me. He is going this week when the tournament starts. He can't wait. I guess I just don't have that gene! So lets just say this was not one of the things I would do again.

Tiger, I hope you get a good rest tonight, drink lots of water and get an early tee time. Nope, we didn't see you, perhaps you saw me, the one in the white T and khaki shorts, oh, there were hundreds dressed like that, but I was the one with a face the color of Rudolph's nose.
But, in all seriousness. Be careful is you go out to the PGA this week and stop by the tent near the 12th hole and tell them hello for me.
They have lots to eat, well at least hamburgers and hot dogs!!!!

Quiet Weekend

Isn't this the most peaceful picture? No I'm not there in person... just in my dreams. The beach is my fav place to go in the spring or fall. I don't like the weather so hot that you are miserable, but warm enough to sit outside, read, drink a lemonade and read a book!
I had a wedding at BA all day Saturday. It was really beautiful and all went well. The reception was at the Church, which made it a long day. But, I feel better having my 1st wedding "under my belt". At least I feel more confident about taking over the job. I will really enjoy this. My niece had such a bad experience with the wedding coordinator at her wedding in OKC. She made the time so stressful. It took away a lot of excitement and joy. I want for the bride to have an enjoyable rehearsal and wedding, and to have all the things that are important to her, but within the rules of the Church.
LH went to a meeting at Southern Hills on Sat. We are volunteering at the PGA tomorrow. We had to take an online test about serving beer etc, then go to a training. He went for the both of us. It seemed to be a fiasco! I hope its better tomorrow. We will be there for the afternoon session. Maybe we will see a bit of the practice round before our shift. Well see. I am not much of a golfer. LH and the boys love to golf. I drive the cart.
Better get to bed. I am trying to manage my fibromyalgia and I am hoping that getting to bed before 11 ish will help. Off to the Dr. about new meds on Tuesday. Crazy stuff. most of the time I can self manage myself, but this summer its really out of control. If anyone has any ideas send them on to me.

Good Golly Miss Molly

Oh my heaven sake...
I just talked to my sister in Branson. You know the guy we found at TJMaxx and trained??? Well, he was to be back today to work his part time job!!! That little snot bucket did NOT even show up. He didnt even call! My sister called his cell # and left a message. No answer at all! No, he did not even call and tell her he wasn't coming in! He just didnt show up. Its a darn good thing I'm not closer to the TJMaxx Store. I would march myself right in there and open up a big can of whip ***!
If the job was too hard for him he should have said something before he left. Or, at least called and said, it's not what he was looking for.
So, she took care of the store alone. She said that she did OK. The people were never lined up, but just a steady flow of people. Most of then were very understanding when she told them her part time help didnt make it in.
Anyway I am just appauled by this whole mess. Didn't his mamma teach him better??

tootle loo,

ps, If you go to Branson, stop by TJ Maxx and ask for Clint, ask him if he forgot his manners!!!

I LOVE GLITTER

FUN, FUN, in the craft room today!!!

We all know how I like to drink lemonade and create in my craft (crap) room. Well, today was the day I just played in there. Glitter, glitter everywhere. Well, I did laundry, baked cookies and vac'd the carpets. But other than that... I did this.

I have been wanting to dabble a bit in collages. Now, this is not really a collage, but my rendition of one. Anyway, I made it for my friend Pam. She caters weddings, etc and make hands down the best cupcakes. I just love them. When she tries out new a new recipe she bring some to us. One year for my birthday she made the cutest 3 tiered birthday cake just for one---moi ate it all alone.

Anyway, I know my pic is not really great, but I cut the clothes from an old cookbook I got in Branson. The face of the angel/fairy, is a pic of her! The words say... the fancy cupcake angel. The silver item in the middle of the cross is an earring I got in Branson. It is from The Royal Navy. Its huge and heavy how could anyone wear it?, but it has my fav symbol on the very tip top, a CROWN!!!!She will just crack up laughing.

I know... my friend and I have the best time! Life is way too short to act like a lady all the time. You know way back when I was growing up, my mom sent me to "charm school". Actually, my sister and I both went. I somehow went 2 times!!! But I can be a very good lady when the situation call for it, but not always.

I better get back to cleaning, yuk. But I do love a fresh clean house that smell oh so scrumptious and clean.

tootle loo,

Prayers for this family

Oh my goodness, this precious little girl drown just the other day. How very sad to see a family go through such a sad terrible time. They need our prayers so very much. You can read about this family at http://www.hannahandlily.blogspot.com/ really puts your day in perspective.

Zip, zip,zip...

That was me today, zip, zip, zip all around the house.
I got so much accomplished today. I made the cutest banner for my class, a couple of signs- soooooo cute too, and some other stuff. I will take pic, (come on, I know you love to see them,) when I get my room finished. I must, must, must get most of it done in the next few days or I will lay in bed and stress about everything. Oh, I even put a roast/potatoes/carrots in the crock pot, mopped the floor, did laundry, and watched a bit of the cooking channel.

Then I went to BAUMC to meet with a bride/groom for their Dec wedding. It's the 29th, (my anniversary) ! Anyway, I met with them and got their ducks in a row, (we know how I like that) and they actually don't have anything planned, so it was a clean slate. They live in NY and will be back a week before the wedding. Thank goodness for email!!!!!

Then back home to eat and scan the web for reception venues in the Tulsa area. I need to get that list compiled and sent to a bride. We can have receptions at BA, but only cake, punch, nuts and mints. Thats what we had for mine, but that was 28 yrs ago and how weddings have changed. So, I better get this little blog finished and get busy. My relatives seem to really enjoy this little few minutes of reading pleasure each day.

Hugs and kisses to them all- my relatives ... you know you love it.

tootle loo,
